Those tempted to dip into Deacon Blue's back catalogue by a seemingly inexhaustible supply of high-class singles (Dignity, When Will You Make My Telephone Ring, Real Gone Kid, Wages Day, Your Swaying Arms) could do no better.
Nineteen tracks, no obvious omissions, and three new songs. Of these, I Was Right And You Were Wrong flirts with the kind of fidgety dance style that made Your Town such a turn-up, while Bound To Love and Still In The Mood are rather more typical. Well, for the odd song that's irritatingly familiar (and some are) there are others here-Only Tender Love, Loaded, Twist And Shout, Queen Of The New Year, Chocolate Girl-that are truly ear-catching adult pop.
And the tangle of Ricky Ross's bog brush voice and Lorraine McIntosh's more conventional version is consistently on the money.
