Ricky Hits The Gig Time Again - The Sun 19th April 2001

SCOTS rockers Deacon Blue stormed back into the live scene with an exclusive gig for 300 fans last night. Frontman Ricky Ross led the band through a hit-packed set in Glasgow. The group famous for anthems like Real Gone Kid, Loaded and Dignity thrilled the crowd at intimate King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut.

Ricky and the band including wife Lorraine Macintosh, are back after a two year break with a new album and British tour. They performed old favourites and songs from new record Homesick. Before the gig singer Ricky said he was looking forward to performing again in Glasgow where the band are based.

He added: “King Tut’s wasn’t here when we started out but we played places like it. “We would have loved to have played here if it had.” Drummer Dougie Vipond, now a successful BBC sports presenter, admitted he was “apprehensive” but was at ease on stage later during the hour-long set.
