Ricky Ross King Tuts Wah Wah Hut, Glasgow 30th August 2002
RICKY ROSS cranked up the volume for what was his last show in Glasgow "for a very long time”. Having toured the UK with an intimate acoustic show earlier this year, this time the tracks from new album This Is The Life were given the full band touch. Opening number Rodeo Boy was a stodgy melange of guitars, big drums and wails, but Ross soon clicked into gear with a beautiful rendition of Northern Soul —a song which expresses his worries for his young family.
My Girl Going To Town and Hippy Girl were particular standouts and reworkings of Deacon Blue tracks Cut lip and Closing Time complemented his newer material well. This time, however, wife and former bandmate Lorraine McIntosh gave her backing from the crowd.
