Solo Mission To The States

DEACON Blue singer Ricky Ross is hoping he can be a Real Gone success in the US.
The Glasgow-based singer will head across the pond next month to promote the American release of his third solo album, This Is The Life.
And he's hoping he can build on the early success of his band in the States.
Ricky said: ``We had big hits with Dignity and Your Town in the radio charts in the US.
``And people from all over the States have been in touch by email to say how much they like my solo work. So I'll be heading to the areas where I've got some support.
``I'm looking forward to heading back over with my band for some solo shows and radio appearances. It'll be great to play places like New York again.''
Ricky is busy recording his fourth solo album, due for release early next year. He's also helping the likes of Ronan Keating write tracks for his forthcoming album.
Ricky and his bandmates will play at today's rugby friendly between Scotland and Ireland at Murrayfield, performing Dignity and Real Gone Kid to spur the fans and the players on before they head Down Under for the Rugby World Cup.
He revealed the band will perform more gigs after the success of their curtain-raising concert at Glasgow's Carling Academy earlier this year.
``It was a great concept for us to play Raintown from start to finish,'' he said. ``Today's a good chance for us to meet and blether about doing some more shows.'' Paul English
