50k Wages Day The Sunday Mail 28th March 2004 Lorraine plans charity gig RIVER CITY star Lorraine McIntosh will top the bill at an all-star charity show to raise £50,000 for Scots with learning disabilities. She will take time out from her role as Alice Henderson in the soap to sing with Deacon Blue, the rock band she fronts with husband Ricky Ross, 46. They'll perform their 1987 album Raintown plus hits including Wages Day and Real Gone Kid at Glasgow Royal Concert Hall on May 27 for the 50th anniversary of Enable. Lorraine, 39, has backed Enable since meeting friend Louise Boustead, 42, of Annan, Dumfresshire, who has learning difficulties, on one of the charity's committees. Lorraine said: 'I went to a drama group and was amazed at what they achieved. But I began to think: 'Where would these people be if not here?' 'Last time Deacon Blue did a fundraiser we raised £30,000. We hope to do even better.' Billy Sloan |
