Too many 'greatest hits' packages are a breach of the Trade Descriptions Act, in that the hits they contain are few. Refreshingly, this is a relentless collection of bona fide hit singles that reminds us that, for a few years, Deacon Blue cornered the market in classy, adult-orientated pop.

All their career highlights are included from the bouncy Wages Day to the mournful I'll Never Fall In Love Again. There are also three tracks recorded for this compilation's original 1994 release; with Bound To Love being the peach.

Despite the fact that Ricky Ross wrote most of the band's material, he was unable to attain the same level of success as a solo performer - a pity, as much of the material on his two solo albums confirmed that his talent remained as strong as ever. Rich Wilson
